Planet Earth

This week while I have been at home folding laundry, vacuuming, etc. I decided I would turn on the "Planet Earth" movies (given to us as a present from my wonderful ex-employers). I think I have watched like 6 episodes so far. They are quite enjoyable to watch (or listen to) and there are a ton of facts to learn. Like yesterday I learned that Panda bears can't hibernate because of their food source. Bamboo isn't rich enough in nutrients to give Pandas the stores they need to sleep all winter. So the Pandas are pretty lonely in the mountains of China when it is snowy outside! Also, they are like TERRIFIC mothers and it is so cute the see a Mommy Giant Panda with her baby. Anyway, that's a little off topic. So today I was checking my e-mail and chatting with Jeff- via IM, while he is in the library- and watching the "Shallow Seas" episode. They showed this group of Bottlenose dolphins swimming and catching fish. Right then I decided that I WANT TO BE A DOLPHIN. This dolphins were playing in the waves and being kind of silly and then the next minute they had to be incredibly strong and super smart to catch their prey! Dolphins are basically the coolest animal! I mean they swim like fish, but are mammals. They use sonar to track their way through water. They pretty much do some AWESOME things. Also, at SeaWorld the dolphin exhibit (where you get to FEED the dolphins) is my ABSOLUTE favorite!!!! You can actually touch the cute dolphins. I beg Jeff everytime we go to pay the $5 to feed them, and it is sooooo worth it! If you ever get to go to Sea World San Antonio you have to feed them.

Anyway, if you ever get a chance to watch this show on the Discovery channel or on DVD they are so great. If you ever want to borrow them, you can!!! They are so cool that they will make you want to become a dolphin!

Moot Court

This was supposed to be posted last Thursday, but I guess I saved it instead of posting- oops!!

Funny name I know, but it was the ending to Jeff's big paper that I blogged about in the beginning of March. So basically, as I understand, a moot court is just a fake court! I was lucky enough to be asked by Jeff and his partner to act as the "Bailiff" (or the official time keeper). I was very nervous at first because the whole process seemed SO official. Everyone was dressed in business attire and looked so professional. After asking Jeff about a million times to tell me exactly what to do AGAIN, I was ready to be the official time keeper. I got to time all four of the "lawyers" and try REALLY, REALLY hard to understand what each one was saying (I am proud to say that I understood about 37% of what was said!). I even got to peek at the judges score to see who "won" the entire event. It was such a fun thing for me to watch, but again it was re-affirmed to me why I did not choose law school!!! Jeff did amazing. I am very proud of him and all his hard work.

2008 Boat Trip #1

On Saturday we went to the lake early in the morning with Jana, Chad, and their kids. When we got to the lake around 9:00am it was 53 degrees outside and the water was 62 degrees. It was freezing!!!! The kids started saying "I am not going in the water". I couldn't believe that any of them would even consider going in the water. Chad was the first one in, of course with a wet suit on. As it started getting warmer Jeff and the kiddos started getting more courage to go into the water. When Jeff finally decided that he would go, he jumped into the water and then the next thing we all heard was a very girly scream. It was so cold and he didn't even have a wetsuit on. I got some good pictures of Jeff's water adventure.

It was such a fun time on the boat. We are so grateful that we live close to the Holmes family. They do so many wonderful things for us! Jana and Chad if you are reading this THANK YOU!!!

Spring Break!!!!

It has been a great spring break! I have absolutely LOVED having Jeff home all week. We were able to get so much done and mostly just enjoyed spending time with each other. We finished a couple projects that make me feel very proud!

I planted flowers! Pretty huh? And Jeff made a brick divider between the grass and the dirt! It turned out so pretty!

I was finally brave and used my sewing machine. I made valances for our kitchen and then recovered Grandma Jones pillows (that used to be on our couch). I am SO proud of how they turned out

Jeff did such an amazing job refinishing this dresser. This dresser has some history. His parents bought it while they were in optometry school in Houston, TX in the last 60's. They bought it used and have used it in their house since. We were lucky enough to inherit the dresser. When we re-did the finish I think we figured it has been painted about 3 different colors!!! It is surprisingly sturdy, especially for making it from Texas to Arizona and then back to Texas! Our baby girl will love it :-)

Spring Break!!!!

Fiesta Texas

This past weekend Jeff’s brother, Marty, and his family came to visit! We were able to spend a lot of time just doing fun things. On Monday we all went to six flags- fiesta Texas. It was a lot of fun and all of the kids, both large and small, LOVED riding on the rides. I couldn’t do much, but was able to ride on the Scooby-doo haunted mansion ride (it is very similar to Disneyland’s buzz lightyear ride where you shoot the targets). I loved being able to walk around with the little kids and my two sister-in-laws. I got some fun pictures of the enjoyable day, but hopefully Heidi and Jana will send me some more!!!!
